Cheryl Cole has to decide today (06.06.11) if she will accept an offer to return to the US 'X Factor'.

The 27-year-old beauty ' who was shockingly sacked from the judging panel of the show after just four days - was offered her job back on Friday (03.06.11), and with the next set of auditions set to take place in New York on Wednesday (08.06.11), she has little time to make a decision but is still unsure whether she wants to return to America.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "It's far from certain she will say yes.

"It's a tough decision because it's a huge show. There's still a lot of pain there. At last Cheryl is in charge of the situation. She's finally calling the shots, but she's really not sure."

It has been claimed that Fox executives are hoping she will turn down the offer to return because they don't want to pay her the £1.2 million fee for the four auditions she already recorded alongside fellow judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul and believe they can claim she is in breach of her contract if she refuses to take her job back ' but the singer has kept hold of emails proving she was fired.

A friend of Cheryl's told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "They're hoping it's a no show so they don't have to pay her. But that plan falls flat when you look at the fact of that matter ' the she's already been fired.

"There was a meeting attended by Cheryl where it was made clear it wasn't working. Then there are emails and messages to the same effect.

"For the network to try and wriggle out of it by suggesting otherwise is nonsense. If she doesn't turn up to re-take her place on the panel, she is not in breach of her contract ' because Fox breached it themselves."

The former Beatles drummer tried to reunite with the only other surviving member of the legendary group, but joked he would only let the bassist and songwriter perform two of his own songs as part of his band's set.

He said: "I ask Paul every time I put a band together and I promise him two numbers like everybody else. And he seems to be busy at that time!"

Ringo added he also approached guitarist George Harrison ' who died in 2001 - to play with the group, but he had told him: "'Ringo, you'll have to give me all of the money'!"
The drummer played a four song set with the All Starr band ' which includes musicians Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, Rick Derringer, Richard Page, Wally Palmar and Gregg Bissonette ' at a press conference where he announced a new European tour, where Ringo admitted he is glad to be back on the road again.

He said: "We were approached, 'Would you like to do Europe?' So why not? I do it because that's what I do. This is still the dream unfolding from when I was 13."

Ringo also told how he loves his hometown of Liverpool, despite his saying in 2008 there was nothing he missed about it, prompting complaints from locals.

He clarified: "Liverpool is close to my heart, there are people in Liverpool I love ' my family, my friends. They thought it was funny. There were three people from the Wirral who complained. There's lots I miss, of course. I did that joke and I'm still paying for it, it seems."

Adele felt like buying a gun and 'randomly opening fire' when she got the tax bill from her first record.

The singer released her album 19 in 2008 and is now promoting her new LP 21. At 23 she's beginning to learn about the intricacies of business, which means trying to understand how tax works. Adele can't understand why she has to pay the government so much of her earnings, admitting when she first saw the figure demanded from 19 she was astounded.

''m learning about tax at the moment with my accountant - pffffff!' she told Q magazine.

' use the NHS, I can't use public transport any more, doing what I do, I went to state school, I'm mortified to have to pay 50% [tax on my earnings]! Trains are always late, most state schools are sh*t and I've gotta give you like four million quid, are you 'avin a laugh? When I got my tax bill in from 19 I was ready to go 'n' buy a gun and randomly open fire with my eyes closed!'

Adele's second release has been a success all over the world and seen her star soar in America. Despite this she's adamant she won't change and still has the same friends she's known for years. When she isn't working she likes nothing better than relaxing with them in her local park and admits the thought of them not wanting to see her anymore is terrifying.

''ve been doing this since I was 18 and if I do it how I could do it, if I worked my arse off for ten years, I'd miss my whole 20s,' she explained.

' think that's where my insecurities have been coming in. What if I come out the other end and I dunno who I am? It'd be horrible. You've got to build up relationships. I'm at a point where I'm making my friends for life. I don't wanna forget how to be normal.'

Family and friends are hugely important to the star. She's about to take all her family on a holiday and has set up funds to help some of her cousins who aren't as wealthy as she is.

Adele doesn't see the point in having money if she can't use it to help the people she cares about, explaining wealth isn't something she's ever craved. Instead, having kids and being a wife is something she dreams about.

' like things now I've got [money] but I'd still be alive and healthy and a good person if I didn't have money. But if I was money-driven, I'd be very excited by the money coming in. I'd be the face of full-fat Coke. Get another million in the bank,' she chuckled.

' honestly don't feel like I'm here to be a singer, I feel like I'm here to be a mum. I wanna look after someone and be looked after, give my all to someone in marriage and have a big family, have a proper purpose."

Adele furious with tax bill

Hip-hop star Sean Kingston is in critical condition in a Miami Beach hospital after being injured in a bad jet skiing accident Sunday evening ... TMZ has confirmed.

According to Local10.com, the "Beautiful Girls" singer had a female passenger on board his watercraft when it crashed into a bridge around 6 PM local time.

We're told both Kingston and his passenger were rescued from the water by a good Samaritan.

The Miami Fire Dept. responded to the scene and both Kingston and his female passenger were transported to nearby Jackson Memorial Hospital. We're told Kingston's injuries are so severe, he is being treated in the trauma ward.

We're told ... at this moment, officials do not believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

Kingston's rep tells TMZ .... "Sean Kingston was in an accident today. No further details are available at the moment. He and his family thank everyone for the well-wishes."

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

Sean Kingston Badly Injured In Jet Ski Crash

Sir Paul McCartney took lead vocals on Steve Martin's track Best Love, telling Steve he has a 'terrible' voice.

Music icon Paul teamed up with Steve for the song, which appears on the latter's latest album Rare Bird Alert.

As much as Paul appreciated the track, which is about marriage, he didn't think too much of actor/musician Steve's vocals and decided he should take lead.

"Paul arrived [at the session] and said, 'You know, when you said you were a terrible singer, I thought you were being humble, but you weren't,'" laughed Steve in an interview with guardian.co.uk.

Steve enjoys singing, although his true talent lies in playing the banjo and piano. He is also a famously gifted comic, achieving success in stand-up and appearing in hits such as The Pink Panther movies. The star always tries to bring a little humour when he performs, although insists music is at the heart of every concert.

"I've never advertised that it's comedy," he added. "I'm sneaking in a bit more because I never want people to be disappointed. And I don't feel that they do. They leave in a really good mood, and informed, in some way."

Paul McCartney slams Steve Martin's vocals

An emotional day became unforgettable for Scotty McCreery on Saturday, May 14. The 17 year old kept his cool while fans screamed, cried and even proposed marriage during a media tour and promotional stops at local Garner, N.C. businesses. Taste of Country was there as the love shown by friends and family began to peel away the layers of his usually steady demeanor. The afternoon reached a fever pitch when McCreery’s hero Josh Turner walked out singing his hit song ‘Your Man.’

McCreery had just begun his “theme song” when Turner strutted out and picked up the next verse. “Oh my goodness!” McCreery shouted while waving off his band. It was the only time all afternoon he struggled to find the perfect thing to say.

“All these people are here for you,” Turner told McCreery. “I had heard you never sang this song with a band before and were a little bit nervous, so I decided I would bring a few of my guys in.” The duo picked up the song from the start, and traded verses and praise before going into Turner’s first radio hit, ‘Long Black Train.’

The high school junior showed incredible stage presence for someone who’s experience is limited at best. He was charismatic and funny, worked both sides of the audience, and even remembered to wave to the special fans in the first few rows. He hammed it up a little with Josh Turner, but never came off cornier than one would want. Amongst the songs he recreated for his fans was ‘Gone,’ ‘Letters From Home,’ and ‘The River,’ all tracks that were essential to his success thus far in the competition.

Hours earlier, during the parade leading up to the concert at Lake Benson park, fans watched as their native son buried his head in his hands and came up with rosy cheeks and watery eyes. Organizers expected 30,000 people despite the threat of storms. Fortunately, the only thing that got wet before McCreery finished was his sleeves, as he dabbed his teary eyes. Expect that scene to make the cut during this Wednesday’s episode of ‘American Idol.”

Josh Turner Surprises Scotty McCreery During Hometown Concert

Lady Gaga has tearfully confessed on film that she thinks "people are trying to destroy her".

The 25-year-old singer broke down in a documentary extract posted online last night (24.04.11) and spoke of how much she fears criticism, admitting she feels like a "loser kid in high school."

In the black and white YouTube clip, posted before she went on stage in New York's Madison Square Garden for her Monster Ball tour, she sobbed: "I still sometimes feel like a loser. It's crazy, 'cos it's like we're at the Garden, but I still feel like a loser kid in high school.

'Sometimes I still feel like people are trying to destroy me... I cannot be destroyed and I will not be destroyed. And you will never destroy the kingdom that is my fans.'

The outlandish 'Judas' hitmaker - who was recently criticised on micro-blogging website twitter for the bizarre artwork of her new album 'Born This Way' which depicts her morphing into a mutant motorcycle - went on to say she feels like she has to "fight" to remain a "superstar" for the sake of her young fans.

She said: ' just have to pick my s*** up. Pick myself up and tell myself I'm a superstar every morning just so I can get through this day.

' feel like I have to fight. I'm fighting for every kid that's like me, that's felt like I've felt and feels like I still feel."

She added: ' just wanna be a queen but sometimes I just don't feel like one. It's not about being a winner for me anymore, you know. It's about being a winner for them.'

Lady Gaga confesses 'people are trying to destroy her

London group The Domino State are the underrated alternative champions to avoid trends and instead offer a chilly yet beautifully composed offering You Are the Winter from album Uneasy Lies the Crown.

Acutely euphoric yet still heavy and moody You Are the Winter combines a clean sound with graceful vocals and lyrics: “a chance to carry on no matter what the strangers say”. Meeting somewhere between White Lies and Joy Division, this is a band that Snow Patrol would die to sound like on this track.

Sounding like a prayer cried out over a precise yet flowing instrumental, The Domino State have deservedly opened for Coldplay at the O2, appeared at Glastonbury and had radio play around the world, however 2011 is set to be the year in which they receive full status and deserved hype.

A year of European touring and launching Uneasy Lies the Crown around the continent will hopefully mean more recognition and a stronger acknowledgement from one of the highest quality indie bands of the year.

The Domino State You are the Winter

Jagermeister have announced a ground-breaking exclusive 'Jägermeister Ice Cold Event' taking place on Wednesday 11 May 2011 at Battersea Power Station, starring legendary rock 'n' roll royalty Alice Cooper appearing in 4D.

The 'Jagermeister Ice Cold Event' is set to make history as the UK's first holographic 4D rock gig and will celebrate the release of the new Alice Cooper Box Set OLD SCHOOL: 1964-1974.

Featuring original band members Alice Cooper, Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith and Michael Bruce, plus Steve Hunter standing-in for the late Glen Buxton, the 'Jägermeister Ice Cold Event' will be the first time the group has 'appeared' together in the UK since 1972.

It’s been a busy time for Evarose as they tour extensively in support of their new EP ‘Creation Divide’. I do owe the girls an apology as this review was due October of last year, but at least now I can clue you in with what the girls have been up to since, and review the EP.

The review first…
I should start by saying ‘Creation Divide’ has been impressively well produced. I listened through headphones, and then on speakers; and the sound doesn’t wane. A whole arsenal of tricks has been used to make the EP sound as exciting as possible, and lives up to the electrifying experience of the live shows. A review of the Evarose EP launch can be found in the Music-News Underground gig review section!

The tone of ‘Creation Divide’ is set by the opener ‘We Can Pretend Anyway’ with pounding drums from Robyn. Rock music has been arguably dominated by males but Evarose really up the mark for female bands in the industry, and Robyn is no exception. Her performance at shows and on the EP is impeccable, and easily matches any male drummer. The tone of her kit on the whole EP is massive.

‘Today Is a Minute Too Long’ starts with Imogen on guitar, but sounds like it’s playing through an old radio. It’s an intriguing effect, much like the quiet before the storm. This effect is used a couple more times throughout the EP for dynamics. I’m sure there’s a more technical term though than ‘old radio’. It’s hard to pigeon-hole Imogen’s guitar playing with a certain style. It is certainly influenced by ‘heavier’ music but you would have to ask Imogen to define her style to know for sure.

It’s during the 3rd song ‘Flatline’ that I start to notice the importance of Connie’s bass guitar. Her consistency throughout the EP is commendable. I’m sure it would be just too easy for her to go off on one with Robyn and Imogen going wild, but her subtle playing compliments Imogen’s guitar and keeps the pace with Robyn’s drums. Connie does play a more predominant part during the following song ‘Kissing Teeth’ though giving it a funkier feel. Her tone is low

The last song ‘Glass’ is the most memorable track off the EP. It’s a brutal but sincere song with a triumphant ending. Sassy front lady Dannika utilizes her vocals on this track in a way she hadn’t before. The sound of her voice is unique, and her vocal range is equally as impressive.

Overview

The EP is a good introduction to Evarose. A heavy, angsty, catchy EP and along with it they’ve made a video for ‘We Can Pretend Anyway’ which can be checked out on their YouTube channel and has aired on Kerrang and Scuzz TV. They’ve played abroad, and now are continuing to tour all over the UK. Gig dates can be found on Myspace.com/evaroseband.

Expect a lot more to come, and if Evarose continue like they do they’re going to be huge!

Evarose Creation Divide EP

Oliver Mascarenhas is an up and coming 15 year old singer - songwriter and in his first competition - Open Mic UK he made it through to the grand finals at the Indigo2 and opened the show with two of his own compositions! He is now in a bigger competition for unsigned artists - Live and Unsigned. He has won a place at the regional finals, where he will sing a cover as well as one of his originals.

Oliver taught himself guitar when he was 13 when he was home educated and has been writing songs ever since. Last September Oliver got a music scholarship to a private independent school but he has now decided to return to home education as that seems to work better for him and his music.

Oliver definitely has a retro style in terms of his music and image. He is a unique artist and is getting his name around in the music industry. He will also be performing at the 2012 Olympics, leading a local youth group.Things are really kicking off with Oliver's music and for him opening the show at the 02 is just the beginning. He possesses a unique on stage charisma and loves engaging with the audience and the fact that he is 15 years old and 6 ft1 with curly hair definitely adds to his stage presence!

Oliver is currently gigging every Monday at the Parkview Club in North London.

Oliver has been approached by an independent producer who liked what he saw and heard, he also met with the director/producer of a major label and they are both very interested in working with him.

Wednesday 9th March 2011: The world famous Abbey Road Studios today launches a worldwide competition to find original, unsigned and undiscovered composers through a global anthem competition in celebration of the studios 80th anniversary.

The initiative will give composers of all ages and abilities the chance to record their anthem at Abbey Road Studios with the internationally regarded London Symphony Orchestra and some of the UK's finest singers, conducted by renowned composer Eric Whitacre. System Of A Down get fans to choose Download set

Franki Chan is a popular American DJ who started IHEARTCOMIX, a brand that is a record label, event production company, blog, and a marketing company based in LA. Last year at SXSW, IHEARTCOMIX paired with Philly-based record label Mad Decent to put on a free three-day showcase that many considered to be the best of the festival. This year, in addition to its own showcase, IHEARTCOMIX put on a two night after party with NYC-based record label, Fool’s Gold, called PAST YO’ BEDTIME. Music-News.com caught Franki Chan after his March 18th DJ set there.

Music-News.com: IHEARTCOMIX events at SXSW, and its parties in LA, have a reputation for assembling bills with the best up and coming talent. What informs your booking decisions?

Franki Chan: It’s always been about positive music, fun music. It doesn’t matter what genre an artist is. It has more to do with what they are about.

MN: What UK and European artists have you booked early on?

FC: Switch, Metronomy, Futurecop!, Ocelot, Simian Mobile Disco, to name a few.

MN: How has your current party in LA been going compared to others in the past, and do you see that going further in to the future?

FC: Check Yo’ Ponytail has been going great. The original Check Yo’ Ponytail ran from 2006 to 2008, and then stopped, and we brought it back in late 2010. So far we’ve had seven shows, most of which have been sold out, and we’re planning on expanding it. We’re going to do a Check Yo’ Ponytail tour in the fall, and from there we eventually hope to bring it to other countries.

MN: Which music scene you’ve experienced has been your favorite, and why?

FC: I think my favorite, honestly, is this current scene (in LA), because it’s not currently any one thing. It’s not just a punk scene, or dance scene. Everything is mixing. I’m able to draw from different groups of people that are doing like-minded things but in different genres, and bounce around and bring them together, which is why this current scene is the most fun.

MN: As a tastemaker, what are some acts you think our UK readership would enjoy discovering?

FC: TheDeathSet (Australia) are amazing. Teen Girl Fantasy (Ohio). Big Freedia (New Orleans). Pictureplane (Colorado).

MN: How would you compare the American and European electronic scenes?

FC: The whole European dance music scene is a built-in industry and artists that are in that scene are making music that is building on established things. In the US, it’s very different in the sense that to really make it here as an artist you have to make your own sound and build it.

MN: How would you define IHEARTCOMIX for someone who is unfamiliar?

FC: The main purpose of IHEARTCOMIX is to find new, cool things, whether it’s music, movies, stuff, people, and try and push them.

Interview : Franki Chan

Sunderland post-punk rockers The Futureheads have been announced as headliners for the UK's newest two day boutique festival Southport Rocks .

They will top a bill filled with an eclectic mix of established artists, up and coming names, tribute bands and the best unsigned talent from around the local area at the event which takes place at Victoria Park over the weekend of 8th & 9th July.

In another exciting announcement the event (formerly called the Jedi Music Festival) will offer 2-day camping for the first time. Campers will be allowed to bring their own food and drink onto the site as the organisers strive to avoid the corporate feel of the larger summer events. Festival goers can also leave the site and enjoy what's on offer at the seaside resort throughout the weekend.

The festival was orignally set up in 2007 (under its Jedi moniker) by Steve Haw in memory of his son Chris an avid music fan who died from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). The aim of the festival is to raise awareness of the condition and all profits from the event will be donated to The Vital Sounds Foundation, screening young people against SADS.

Other musical highlights for the weekend include comedy folksters The Lancashire Hotpots, Picture Book, Liverpool folk trio Stealing Sheep, Kid British and Southport's own funksters Sourmash

Full weekend camping tickets cost just £49 each and children under 12 are free.

The Futureheads confirmed as headliners for Southport Rocks

Bombino Agadez

This is a really tough album to review - not to listen to; that is easy and a wonderfully enriching experience, but tough to review because the music is only a part of the album; how do you review the hardships and history that went into the making of this?

Bombino is a young Tuareg and one of the new generation of Saharan musicians. He is from the same root as Tamikrest and Tinariwen and he grew up listening to their music as well as that of Hendrix, John Lee Hooker and Jimmy Page as well as legends such as Ali Farka Toure. As part of the legendary Tidwat he recorded with Keith Richards and Charlie Watt and all of those influences are present here as well as the influence of the desert and the years of violent suppression of the Tuaregs as they sought independence.

All that goes together to make music that is hypnotic, stirring and deeply soulful. Recorded, at least in part, live, its jams and progressions are fronted by Bombino’s guitar and chanted vocals but there is a wonderful contribution from his band of Kawissan Mohammed on guitar and Ibrahim Emoud Atchinguil on drums. They are in turn backed up by a number of western musicians as seems to be the pattern these days but the sense is definitely of the lead being taken by Bombino and his Tuareg partners.

There is a wealth of music leaking out from Africa at present and when you add this to musicians like Bassekou Kouyate and Vieux Farka Toure from Mali and the reissues of music from Benin and Niger you definitely begin to see the legacy of music that Africa has been giving to the West – Bombino is one of the best and this is an early entry for World album of the year and quite possibly in the running for Album of the Year as well.

Returning for its 3rd year, Hevy Festival 2011 is set to be one for the memory books. Taking place at its home of Port Lympne in Kent, there will be over 80 bands performing at Hevy across 4 stages. Friday will start the proceedings with the launch party to end all launch parties and a few more bands which will be announced soon.... Saturday and Sunday will host a ferocious line-up of some of the greatest artists from the world of hardcore, punk, ska, rock and metal. More exciting line up announcements to follow very soon.
